HITRUST e1 Certification
FHAS has attained HITRUST e1 Certification for the systems that store and process protected health information, including its case management, call recording, and cloud file and backup platforms. Assessed against HITRUST CSF v11.6.0 by a HITRUST Authorized External Assessor and subjected to HITRUST quality assurance review, the certification provides customers with independent validation that FHAS has implemented foundational cybersecurity controls for safeguarding sensitive healthcare information.
NCQA Utilization Management Accreditation
FHAS holds Utilization Management Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), validating our commitment to fair, timely, and evidence-based utilization review. This accreditation confirms that FHAS follows objective, industry best practices—using relevant clinical information and qualified professionals to determine the appropriateness of requested health care services, while maintaining confidentiality and handling appeals fairly. Independent Review Organization Accreditation 6.0: Comprehensive Review with Independent Dispute Resolution Designation
The URAC Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) Designation supports the No Surprises Act, which took effect in early 2022 to protect patients from unexpected medical bills when receiving emergency services from out-of-network providers. This designation complements URAC's Independent Review Organization accreditation, as CMS identified IROs as the neutral arbiters for billing disputes.
The program helps organizations compete more effectively for contracts, as healthcare plans, payers, providers, and CMS recognize this credential as important for consumer protection. Federal Hearings and Appeals Services (FHAS) is the first entity to have received this designation. To qualify, organizations must hold URAC's IRO accreditation and be actively conducting independent dispute resolution entity reviews.
